5 Things to Know About Season 6 of ‘Sons of Anarchy’

No. 1: With this being the next-to-last season, Sutter is setting things up for the big finale. Here is what he has planned overall for Season 6:

“I’m so bad with themes,” Sutter says. “I’ll say a theme and then somebody will print it and I will be like, ‘That’s not what this season is about!’ I think we pick up this season kind of where we left off last year… Like four or five days in. I think it really is about Jax’s journey in terms of: Can he lead this club in the right direction? Can he be a good father? Can he be a good husband? Can he do, ultimately, what his father couldn’t do? Can he get him out of guns? Can he get them into legit businesses? Jax is really trying to achieve it all, and is that possible? If so, how does one get there without having a huge body count?”

Jax Will Not Visit Tara In the Sons of Anarchy Season Six Premiere

Question: What’s up with Sons of Anarchy? —Robert

Ausiello: Jax won’t be making any conjugal visits to his jailhouse bride when Sons of Anarchy kicks off its sixth season on Sept. 10. In fact, he won’t be visiting Taraperiod (although it won’t be for lack of trying on his part). When the unhappy couple do eventually come face-to-face, expect “a deep sense of sadness on both their parts,” shares series creator Kurt Suttter, who describes the reunion as “loving but very sad.” As the Sons Of Anarchy boss notes, “They’ve been through so much already, and how many more times can you say, ‘I’m sorry?’ How many more times can you say, ‘It’s going to get better?’ How many more times can you say, ‘It’ll change?’ It’s almost like there’s a certain amount of resignation that they both are aware of.”

An Interview with ‘Sons of Anarchy’ star Maggie Siff

TDQ: So then I guess moving into Tara, what first attracted you to her and her story?

MS: Well, I guess the first thing that attracted me to her initially in Season One was that she was a character who had left this world behind, but then she came back. And she was carrying, the whole first season, this secret, which is that she’s being stalked. And I just was intrigued. I was intrigued by the weight of what she was carrying around and of her historical relationship with these people who she seemed so different from, but sort of scratch the surface and you realize she’s not that different. I thought that was very interesting. I also, when I read the pilot, it felt so different to me than a lot of other television scripts that I had read. It just moved. It sort of had this velocity and this vision in it that was kind of exciting, you know? It got your heart racing. And the characters felt strange and interesting and were people we hadn’t seen before. So, you know, I was really relatively new and lucky in terms of what I encountered when I first entered the world of television. You know, the thing that I say about it is that Mad Men and Sons of Anarchy have absolutely nothing in common except that both in my experience in reading both of those pilots I thought that there was nothing else quite like them.

Tara related scoop on the season 6 premiere

Question: Please can you spare some scoops on Sons of Anarchy? —John

Ausiello: Incarcerated Tara’s inner pitbull — which viewers first met last season when she went to town on Wanda De Jesus’ unhinged madam — will rear its ugly head again in the Sept. 10 season premiere. Also making a cameo in the super-sized opener: Charlie Hunnam’s naked arse.
