‘Sons of Anarchy’: Charlie Hunnam on Jax’s struggles and guilt

As “Sons of Anarchy” rolls into season six, the Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) at the head of SAMCRO’s table is very different from the one the world got to know in the first season of the motorcycle club drama. The once idealistic Jax has seemingly been tainted by the power he now wields as club president.
While the “Sons of Anarchy” cast was at Comic-Con to greet their fans, Hunnam also took some time to talk to reporters about the changes Jax is going through and what’s in store for his character.

Emmy Watch: ‘Sons of Anarchy’ star Maggie Siff talks Tara’s rise and fall (and rise again)

goes from here.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: When did you learn Tara would be ending the season headed to jail?
MAGGIE SIFF: It was toward the end of the season. There was this moment where the tension was mounting in the episodes, [Laughs] and I started to sniff around and ask the writers. I’m like, “Am I going to jail? Am I going to spend next season in jail?” At first, people were like, “Oh, no, no, no, no, no.” And then the answer started to be, “Well… maybe.” And then I asked Kurt. I think he told me maybe two or three episodes before the finale. They were going back and forth about it. They weren’t sure if they wanted to open that particular can of worms and how it would lead into the story lines [for season 6].

‘Sons of Anarchy’s’ Maggie Siff on ‘Horrifying,’ ‘Tragic’ End to Season 5

In the final moments of the episode, Tara finally tells Jax (Charlie Hunnam) that she’s moving to Oregon with the kids — with or without him.

“There’s really no turning back from that. She’s not asking him a question — she’s telling him the way it is,” Siff tells The Hollywood Reporter.

However, right after that moment, the police arrive to arrest Tara on conspiracy to commit murder.

“It was really horrifying and tragic for the character. I root for her so much,” Siff tells THR about that final scene. “I always feel conflicted when I read scenes like that because it’s so upsetting for Tara, and yet as an actor, I’m always excited for that kind of a challenge.”
